Eyes of the World is proud to offer an advanced retina exam with high quality digital photography. OCT, which stands for Optical Coherence Tomography uses advanced technology to examine the retina, layer by layer.
As a leading optometric practice in Eugene, Oregon Optovue technology was an ideal fit with our goals. The iFusion by Optovue combines powerful OCT capabilities with high quality imaging into a single, integrated and versatile platform.
OCT exams are comfortable and quick. You look through the viewfinder and the digital scanner photographs the back of your eye, including the retina with its nerves and blood vessels. Then your eye doctor will review the images with you and evaluate the health of your eyes.
Digital retinal exams have the potential to detect eye diseases just beginning to progress. At this early stage of ocular disease development, the prognosis for successful treatment is the greatest. Here are some of the eye diseases we can detect using OCT scanning:
- Age related macular degeneration (AMD)
- Glaucoma
- Diabetic retinopathy
- Retinal detachment or tears
Complete eye exams should include OCT. Your Eugene, OR optometrists recommend it. However, most insurance policies do not cover this part of the eye exam, so we offer it as an optional add-on.
